About Nicholas Bertucci

Nicholas Bertucci is part of a long tradition of military members in his family. His father served in Vietnam in the Navy, his grandfather in World War II in the Navy, and his great grandfather served in World War I in the Army.
Nicholas joined the Navy in 2007 with the desire to continue his family’s tradition and care for others. He signed up to be a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman to operate alongside, and care for, the United States Marines.
Upon completion of his basic training, he was assigned to the 1st Marine Division Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion at Camp Pendleton. From there, he deployed with his unit to two different conflicts.

He served in Iraq in 2008 – 2009, operating in the field as a line corpsman. He was appointed as Senior Line Corpsman of his unit and led several corpsman under his command. Upon completion of specialized Mountain Warfare Medicine training, he deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, leading his corpsmen and caring for his Marines through rigorous combat operations.
Nicholas has completed associate’s, bachelors’, and master’s degrees; two while on active duty and one shortly after separating.
Leaving the Navy in 2015, Nicholas has never stopped caring for his fellow service members. He is the District 5 and 7 Veterans Service Officer for the Arkansas Department of Veteran Affairs. His debut memoir, Rolling Through Afghanistan – Life as a Combat Medic Enduring PTSD, extends that service by offering an empathetic voice as he shares his story and his own experiences healing from the trauma of war. Additionally, he is the owner and host of Bertucci’s Country Cabin, a rustic wooded getaway in northern Arkansas.
